“What kind of citizens would children be if they had all the tools and materials they needed to succeed in school?”
Upon seeing the plight of students after a trip to the Philippines in 2009, VHM co-founder Merlyn posed this question. Following the trip with her husband George, they took action and Vision HimPossible Life Center (VHLC) was established the year after.
VHLC is an educational assistance initiative that provides quality education to children from underprivileged communities in the Philippines. Funded by TRI and individual donors, VHLC students congregate in a school-like atmosphere with the help of teachers and learn at their own pace. The goal: enlighten their minds, build their character, enrich them with better life opportunities, encourage them to be respectable citizens, and groom them to become impactful leaders for their future.
Located in Batasan Hills, Quezon City, Philippines, VHLC’s first program is Accelerated Christian Education (ACE), which has supported over 400 learners from Kindergarten to 6th Grade since 2010. Through “Usapang Pamilya” (Family Talks), parents are also given spiritual guidance so they can help their children develop good character and leadership qualities.
In 2011, ACE was supplemented by Basic Life Empowerment Support System (BLESS), a basic reading, writing, and math program for children 4 to 5 years old. Rolled out in two more centers — Paombong, Bulacan, and Caloocan City — the program has helped over 150 students since it began.
Both ACE and BLESS allow students to study and learn at their own pace, participate in extracurricular activities, and grow in both character and spirit. Education extends beyond the four corners of a classroom. Its importance encompasses all aspects of life. Like a Be Smart Get Prepared® First Aid kit, education helps prepare for an uncertain future with all the right tools to give both confidence and hope — to dream big, to commit to goals, and to succeed.
VHM believes that nourishment goes beyond physical health. Every child needs proper nourishment to grow healthy and strong. Every Be Smart Get Prepared® First Aid kit sold helps provide malnourished and underweight children with nutritious meals, and educates their parents on how they can sustain this nourishment.
Every child deserves a loving family and a nurturing home. We work closely with orphanages and non-profit organizations in the Philippines and Mexico to ensure a safe haven for rescued and abandoned children. The orphanages we partner with are staffed with medical professionals who give physical and psychological care to orphans from infants to adolescents. We have faith and great hopes that these children will find loving families and live peaceful lives in a place they can call home.
Throughout history, people from indigent communities all over the world have been deprived of basic necessities such as clean water, nutritious food, livelihood, and healthcare. VHM has partnered with different organizations to help provide these basic necessities to the underprivileged. Each Be Smart Get Prepared® First Aid kit provides support that helps heal lives.
Empowering consumers with Be Smart Get Prepared® First Aid and Emergency Preparedness is the vehicle that allows VHM to bring HOPE, HELP, and HEALING to children in need of medical care and assistance. By funding life-changing orthopedic surgeries and providing rehabilitation for children rescued from abuse, VHM provides opportunities for these children to grow up healthy in life.
